Nawat Itsaragrisil, the Executive Director of the Miss Universe Organisation, has been removed from his position for the 2025 edition of the pageant following an incident involving Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch.
According to reports, the Thai businessman sparked outrage during a pre-pageant ceremony in Thailand when he allegedly called Bosch “dumb” for failing to upload promotional content on her social media page.

Feeling insulted, Bosch described Nawat’s remark as “disrespectful and undermining” before walking out of the venue. She was later joined by several contestants from other countries in a show of solidarity.
In response to the controversy, Miss Universe President Raúl Rocha took decisive action, confirming through an Instagram video that Nawat had been dismissed from this year’s competition.
Speaking in Spanish, Rocha stated, “I have restricted Nawat’s participation in the events that are part of the 74th Miss Universe competition. I won’t let the values of respect and dignity of women be violated.”
