The Nigerian content creator and social activist Mr. Macaroni recently complained of the worsening state of Lagos roads and appealed to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to make the safety of Lagosians a priority. Many Lagos roads, according to him, have already become so dangerous that they might be hazardous even not only for driving but even for living in the area.
Mr Macaroni directly questioned the apparent reasons why the administration looks like it has forgotten these critical infrastructure issues, emphasizing how the high number of potholes and destroyed portions of the roads result in accidents that could have been easily averted. He urged urgent repairs, indicating that citizens’ lives and properties are at risk.
In this tweet, Mr Macaroni would rather have him know, directly, that instead of welcoming officials or attending to other less pressing issues, it would be better for the governor to be on the spot view of the roads and come up with solutions for the severe hazards residents are already facing on a daily basis.
Indeed, Lagosians have risen in support, as many have shared similar grievances about the road conditions and the need for improved infrastructure in the city. This is a call to action that keeps the memory alive of the dire need for safer roads in one of Nigeria’s busiest cities.
