Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala faces a period of absence of up to five months after he got a broken fibula and ligament damage in the game of Saturday against Paris Saint-Germain, a match which ended 2-0 in the FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final.
The 22-year-old, who made his debut since he pec recovery from a hamstring injury, suffered a horrible ankle injury just before the end of the first half as a result of a crash with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in their race for a loose ball near the byline. Musiala was groaning in pain and had to be carried off on a stretcher, visibly upset, as other players turned away from the scene.
German publication BILD, as Fabrizio Romano quotes, speculates that the Bayern star was found to have a broken left fibula and ligament injuries that will keep him out of action at least until November.
Although he has not been able to play 11 matches so far this season, Musiala is one of the best players in Bayern and has scored 21 goals and given 8 assists in the 44 games he played. He was recently given the club’s legendary No. 10 shirt by the club before the 2025/26 season.
His missing is a serious issue for Bayern, who have lost to PSG in the quarter-finals. Even though there were two red cards in the last moments of the game, the French champions’ victory was guaranteed by goals of Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé.
