The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has recently announced that it will begin a random sampling of Indomie noodles, including its seasoning, from the production facilities.
This is coming after several cartons of indomie noodles were recalled by the Taiwan and Malaysian authorities, after ethylene oxide, a cancer-causing agent was discovered in them.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of the agency, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, has explained that the prohibition was placed as a cautionary measure so that the noodles would not be smuggled in and to also test that the spices used for the Indomie and other noodles in Nigeria were safe for consumption.
She then promised Nigerians that an update will be duly given when necessary with the outcome of the investigation.
