An operation, spearheaded by the Investigation & Enforcement Directorate of The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has led to the confiscation of a wide range of illicit drugs as well as the apprehension of a number of hawkers.
The raid targeted on drug hawkers operating in the Apapa area and its surroundings is a part of the directorate’s ongoing efforts to combat the distribution and sale of unauthorised pharmaceuticals.
According to a post on the Agency’s official X handle @NafdacAgency which revealed details of the operations, numerous hawkers were apprehended during the operation, and a wide range of illicit drugs were confiscated, including aphrodisiacs, narcotic substances (including tramadol), antibiotics, and over-the-counter medications.
It was further revealed that the combined street value of the seized drugs is estimated to be approximately Fifty Million Naira.
The arrested individuals will be prosecuted accordingly, and the confiscated drugs are slated for destruction according to the statement.
