Naira Notes are Heavier When in Contact with People – Nigerian Minting Company.

The Nigerian Security Printing and Minting PLC have stated the new naira notes leave noticeable traces of intaglio inks when rubbed on plain white surfaces.
The company with the job of printing new currencies also added that the new banknotes are generally light when issued but they then become heavier in circulation after getting in contact with ‘dirt and moisture.’
In a statement signed by the Managing Director of NSPM, Ahmed Halilu, on Friday, January 6, remarked that the company found it necessary to enlighten Nigerians on the features and common misconceptions about the new naira notes.
The statement read in part, “We want to inform all Nigerians that the newly printed naira notes are of the same substrates and have passed through the same printing processes and finishing procedures.
“It is, therefore, basically the same as the other notes in circulation. It will leave traces of intaglio inks when rubbed on plain white surfaces.
