Reactions have followed the peaceful march by women to question the outcome of the governorship election in Nasarawa State and the police’s subsequent ban on protests.
Chief Francis Orogu, the state PDP chairman, referred to the embargo as unconstitutional.
Labaran Maku, a former minister of information, claims that since peaceful demonstration is a constitutionally guaranteed right of citizens, the police are not authorized to forbid it.
But the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) urged the PDP to go to court if it wasn’t happy with the results of the election for governor.
Chief Douglas Otaru, the spokesperson, issued a statement yesterday in Lafia that included the appeal.
