Nigeria Air, which is the National carrier (Aircraft) of the Nation received its license on Monday from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. The Air Transport Licence was given to the interim management of Nigeria Air, Captain Dapo Olumide, at the NCAA headquarters in Abuja.
This certification is one of the licenses an airline would receive before they would be able to operate their flight services. The next certification the national carrier is expected to get is the Air Operator’s Certificate, which is currently being processed and could be granted before the end of July.
The issuance of this certificate to Nigeria Air is coming four years after the branding of the new airline was revealed by the Federal Government during the Farnborough Air Show in London by Hadi Sirika, the minister of Aviation as at July 2018.
With the unveiling, the airline was expected to have started operation at the end of the year, 2018, but this never came to pass. However, the government had made several efforts to make the new airline work and they even created interim management to make sure the National carrier was working in the country.
