The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a TikToker, Suleiman Yakubu for reportedly threatening to unleash violence on security operatives during the forthcoming nationwide protest.

The Police command had said that in the viral video clip, the suspect was heard inciting the viewers to attack security operatives in the state.

The young man in question went by the username: “Dam-Mallam68” on his TikTok account and had encouraged intending protesters to raze down important State and private infrastructures in Plateau State as part of the activities for the August 1 protest.

What They’re Saying

A statement issued on Sunday by the spokesperson of the command, DSP Alfred Alabo had remarked that the suspect – a resident of Jos North– was arrested at Ahmadu Bello Way, Jos with the help pf an anonymous informant.

The suspect had while in detention, confessed to being the one in the viral video.

“In view of the above, the Commissioner of Police wishes to state that the Police will intensely resist any attempt by mischief makers to plunge the State into chaos.

“He stressed the need for peace to remain untempered in the State amidst the before, during and after the protest.

“The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina also urges the good people of Plateau State to be law abiding and refrain from making inciting comments that will threaten peace and security in the State”, the statement concluded.
