San Antonio Spurs booked their place in the Western Conference semi-finals with a big 114-95 triumph over the Portland Trail Blazers, winning 4-1 in the series.
Controlling the game from the onset, the Spurs led from the start, securing an early lead they would never lose. Victor Wembanyama registered a brilliant 17 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 blocks, to extend his superb run in his first postseason appearance since suffering a recent concussion.
The Spurs enjoyed an early dominance by creating a huge 28-point gap before entering the second half of the game with a 65-45 lead. A fourth-quarter 11-0 run saw the Blazers chip away at San Antonio’s lead and cut it down to just nine points, but they could not sustain their rally.

De’Aaron Fox had 13 points in the fourth quarter alone from his 21 on the night to snuff out a comeback attempt by Portland. Wembanyama was also involved in clutch blocks and denials down the stretch of the game.
This is the first series the Spurs have won since 2017, and they still have ambitions of earning their sixth NBA championship, and will play the winner of Denver Nuggets v Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round.
