The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) reported that it had confiscated 9 tonnes of illicit drugs worth N1.5 billion in Kano State this year
Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, the state commander for the NDLEA, revealed yesterday during a news conference that the agency had also detained 1,078 individuals in the state throughout the year. To reduce crime among the state’s greater population by combating drug addiction and trafficking, they conducted 82 raids at high-risk locations both inside and beyond Kano’s city limits.
As a result, 951 men and 127 women were among the 1,078 suspects that were detained.
The overall amount of narcotics confiscated during the review period was 8,386.733kg, which included 6,607.492kg of cannabis Sativa, 1,778.388kg of psychotropic substances, 451grams of cocaine, 125grams of heroin, and 277grams of methamphetamine, according to the official.
