The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency -NDLEA, in the Kaduna State Command, has announced the arrest of 611 alleged drug peddlers, from January to July in the State.
The agency’s commander in Kaduna state, Mr. Umar Adoro revealed this to the news reporters on Monday, 15th August 2022 in Kaduna.
Adoro declared that out of the 611 suspects, 480 drug users had been counseled, rehabilitated, and integrated back into society.
“We charged 131 individuals to court out of the 611 suspects we arrested. We also secured the conviction of 69 individuals and 62 persons are still awaiting trial within the period under review.”
“Within the period under review, the state command also confiscated several illicit drugs which included 3,893.189kg of Cannabis, 1.309kg of Cocaine, 0.097kg of Heroine, 3,949.63kg of Psychotropic, 0.147kg of Methamphetamine, and 1,851.369kg of Tramadol.
“The total kilograms of drugs seized was 3,898,991.552kg within the period under review,”
Adoro had stated
He then went on to urge the public to be mindful of suspicious movements of goods in their localities and provide useful information to the agency to enable it to reduce the increase and consumption of hard, illegal drugs.
The commander also appealed to parents to closely observe their wards’ activities. He finally, reassured the public of NDLEA’s commitment to curbing illicit drugs in society to the barest minimum.
