Timothy Ojoma has recently been approved as the new Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources by the Kogi State House of Assembly.
The 8th Stare House of Assembly had given their approval for the nomination during the house plenary held in Lokoja, the State’s capital on Wednesday, June 21.
Ojoma is replacing David Apeh, the former Commissioner, who was dismissed on the grounds of Anti party activities by the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
Governor Bello had been the one to send out Ojoma’s name to the House of Assembly members for further screening.
While screening the Commissioner, an Ibaji State Constituency member, Comfort Nwuchiola had remarked that Ojoma was capable of moving the ministry forward.
Meanwhile, the newly appointed Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources has stated that he would ensure that mechanized agriculture becomes more popular in the state as against the more practiced subsistence farming.
Additionally, Ojoma has avowed to increase food security during his tenure.
It’s a little too early to determine if Ojoma is up to the task, only time will tell. However, one can consider his being vouched for by Ms Nwuchiola as a testament to his capabilities.
The exact details of the sacking of Apeh is still yet unknown asides from the fact that he was relieved from duty on account of gross misconduct.
Will Apeh follow up this new appointment by challenging his termination?
