New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has managed to acquire 1,000 tickets for the 2026 US Open priced as affordably as $100 each after widespread worries of a fare surge in tennis fan tickets among local communities.

Tickets will be available to NYC residents on a first-come, first-served basis only, and on Wednesday, August 26 from 10 am Eastern Time. A certified New York ZIP code must be offered by the purchaser to qualify.

Seats covered by the deal will apply to all main-draw games from August 30th to September 8th, and shall be open at Louis Armstrong Stadium, Arthur Ashe Stadium, and on grounds passes for use.

This plan is part of action being taken after many resale tickets had experienced steep rises: ground passes initially at $65 can be seen resold at an average price of $263, whereas the basic tickets at the opening day of the championship for the stadium had already gone up to $344 for each pair.

Mamdani announced that the project has been implemented to provide city residents with the best way of getting involved in one of the key sports events in the city: “If New York welcomes the greatest players on earth, then residents of our town should be allowed to watch them in action,” Mamdani claimed.

The US Open CEO, Craig Tiley said he was pleased to conclude such a deal and wants as many persons as can attend the event as possible; all tickets cannot be resold at a later stage hence no opportunity for people to gain an immediate profit from the offer.
