The Nigeria Football Federation is determined to unveil the new helmsman of the Super Eagles at the end of next week, the federation’s Technical Director, Austin Eguavoen, has said. This former Super Eagles coach and captain made the assertion at a press briefing in Abuja Tuesday afternoon, momentarily after the Technical Committee’s meeting on the appointment.
“We have not concluded on all the necessary things we need to do before the announcement of the new coach. I believe that before now and next weekend, we would let Nigerians know the new Super Eagles coach,” Eguavoen stated.
This important announcement comes at a very critical time as the Super Eagles prepare for their upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifiers, due to play a must-win encounter against Benin on September 7 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. This marks the start of their campaign to secure a spot at the 2025 AFCON tournament.
The Super Eagles will, after the tie against Benin in Nigeria, travel to Kigali to play the Rwanda national team on 10 September. The appointment of the new head coach is one key factor expected to spur the team on to success in the upcoming qualifier campaign.
