Muhammad Umar Bago, the Niger State Governor, has agreed to the establishment of a Claim Verification and Payment Committee to recompense individuals affected by the reconstruction of the Minna-Bida-Road.
According to the Governor in a statement issued by Abubakar Usman, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the reconstruction of the Minna – Bida road was co-financed by the Islamic Development Bank, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and the State Government respectively.
The payment and verification committee members had been selected from the state government, security agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
The statement had additionally revealed that the committee had been given a six weeks timeline, starting from Tuesday, the 25th of July 2023, to complete its assignment with utmost diligence.
The key task of the committee is to identify each claimant and collect crucial information, such as the land coordinates of the affected property and each claimant’s Bank Verification Number, BVN.
The SSG had also revealed that the State Government had set aside funds to recompense all affected persons, remarking that the payments will be made simultaneously with the verification process.
The statement had also informed that the committee would facilitate straight real-time online payments to the claimants.
Usman had finally, stressed the importance of claimant being present at their respective properties during the verification exercise.
Meanwhile, the timelines for verifying each location would be communicated in due time, through the Village Heads and the claimant’s Attorneys, the SSG had said.
