The Niger Police Command has revealed through its spokesperson, DSP Wasiu
Abiodun, in a statement that they are trailing the killers responsible for the death of Very Rev. Fr. Issac Achi of the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Paikoro Local
Government Area of the State on Sunday.

According to DSP Wasiu, the bandits invaded the house of the deceased and tried to force their way inside, but when they could not they set the house on fire with the deceased inside.

Rev Collins, who was trying to escape was shot on the shoulder.

He further revealed that the Commissioner of police of the star immediately dispatched men of the Niger Police Command to the area and they’re trying their best to trail the bandits as an investigation on the case has commenced.

“Unfortunately, the bandits reportedly attempted to gain entrance into the residence, but seemed difficult and set the house ablaze, while the said Rev. Father was burned to death.

“A colleague of the Rev. Father, identified as Father Collins, was equally shot in the
shoulder while trying to escape from the scene.

“The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, Ogundele Ayodeji, had
dispatched a reinforcement team to the area and effort is ongoing to apprehend the
assailants as an investigation into the unfortunate attack has commenced,” the police said.

The Christian Association of Nigeria condemned the act and called on the government to be more intentional with its Citizens’ lives and properties.
