In what is slowly shaping up to be the new norm, Nigeria’s national grid has collapsed again for the third time in under a week.
The latest collapse occurred early Saturday morning, with several states reporting total blackouts at that time.
According to the data obtained from the Nigerian System Operator’s portal (niggrid.org), it was revealed that the grid recorded zero megawatts (MW) as of 9.20am today.
This latest failure is coming on the heels of two other collapses recorded earlier in the week, further straining the already fragile power system.
This is a terrible time for the electricity grid to be collapsing, especially in light of the high cost and unavailability of fuel, leaving businesses and households suffering the inadequacies and failure of the country yo address this issue.
