The Nigerian federal government has advised its citizens traveling to the United States and Europe to be extremely vigilant in the highbrow areas of cities in the highlighted countries.
This advisory is coming after fresh attacks on Nigerians in London and the recent stealing of their belongings, including passports.
This advisory was contained in a statement made by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Monday, November 28, at a news conference in FCT, Abuja.
Mohammed had warned prospective Nigerian travelers that they stand a high risk of being robbed by traveling to those countries.
“We have therefore decided to advise Nigerians traveling to Europe and the United States to take extra precautions to avoid being dispossessed of their belongings.” The advisory statement read.
“This is not your typical travel advisory. Issuing such is the prerogative of our embassies/high commissions as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is merely a piece of advice to Nigerians who may visit the affected countries.”
