The Nigeria Police Force has arrested Linus Williams, a prominent cryptocurrency billionaire, also known as Blord. The arrest was made on Tuesday in Abuja, following allegations of cryptocurrency fraud, terrorism funding, and facilitating internet fraud, among other charges.
According to the Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, Blord was taken into custody due to complaints filed against his companies, including Blord Group, Blord Real Estate Ltd, Blord Jetpaye Limited, and Billpoint Technology. The offenses allegedly committed by Blord and his companies include cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks.
Adejobi assured that the police would conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, emphasizing the commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Nigeria’s cyberspace. He denied that the arrest was prompted by a petition from Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.
The investigation is being led by the NPF-NCCC (Nigeria Police Force – National Cybercrime Centre), and the police have promised to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice.
