With a timing of 3:14:59, Nigeria has advanced to the final of the 4x400m mixed relay competition at the current World Athletics Championships. The time was excellent enough to qualify as one of the quickest finishers after Italy, despite the team’s fifth-place performance in the opening heat. Samson Oghenewegba Nathaniel, Patience Okon George, Dubem Amene, and Imaobong Nse Uko rounded up the team.
They will start from lane three, sandwiched between Poland, the current Olympic champion, in lane two, and the USA, the bronze medalist from Tokyo, in lane four. They are drawn in heat 1 of two first-round heats. Two additional teams with the two quickest losing times will join the three teams that automatically qualify from the heat for the final.
Later on Friday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, USA, hammer thrower Oyesade Olatoye and the 4x400m mixed relay team will launch Team Nigeria’s attempt for podium finishes.
