A suspect in the murder of a Nigerian man in Italy, Ogochukwu Alika, has been detained by the Italian authorities. The unidentified attacker beat the physically challenged man, Alika, to death while others watched and recorded the incident on their phones. Alika used crutches to get around.
The suspect would be charged to court by the Italian police, according to Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, who provided an update on the matter in a statement on Tuesday.
She explained that to ensure that justice was served, the police were collaborating and working with the Nigerian delegation in Italy. The Nigerian Mission in Italy is urging that Mrs. Alika, the widow, be given a good job so she can support the rest of the family and provide the family’s bread.
Dabiri-Erewa seized the opportunity to thank the Nigerian community in Italy, various organizations, and individuals in Italy who have rallied around to support and raise funds for the late Alika’s family since his death, through the statement from the NiDCOM public relations unit, which was signed by Gabriel Odu.
The head of NiDCOM revealed that the Canadian government had found the two Nigerians who were murdered in a Canadian nightclub. Both Tosin Arowoshegbe and Chibueze Momah were killed by gunfire while serving as security for a nightclub. The NiDCOM chairman stated that efforts were being made by the authorities to determine what caused the regrettable situation.
