The Nigerian Government has deployed several personnel from the Army, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Federal Fire Service to the offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission across the nation.
This was in a bid to protect the assets of the electoral body ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The federal government had also instructed the security agencies to improve intelligence gathering, sharing, and utilization to halt the recent political violence in Nigeria.
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, made this disclosure during a meeting with the chieftains of 18 political parties in Nigeria, at the Force headquarters in Abuja, on Thursday, November 17. According to Baba, the police had recorded about 52 violent cases within six weeks.
