The Nigerian Postal Service, –NIPOST, workers have closed down the head office of the service in Abuja, in protest of the appointment of Tola Odeyemi as the Chief Executive Officer/Postmaster-General.
Recall that Ajuri Ngelale, a Presidential spokesman, had announced that President Bola Tinubu had last week, substituted the leadership of communication agencies, including NIPOST.
However, not too long after the news of Odeyemi’s appointment broke, reports emerged that Adeyemi Adepoju, the sacked Postmaster-General, had been reappointed.
In a viral video, Adepoju was seen talking to some workers who alleged that Tinubu had reappointed him.
Earlier in a statement by NIPOST on Friday, Adepoju alleged that President Bola Ahmed reinstated him as Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer-CEO, of the Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST.
A statement from NIPOST had read:
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reinstated Rt. Honourable Adeyemi Sunday Adepoju as the Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service–NIPOST, alluding to Adepoju’s excellent leadership and stellae performance during his stay in office as the reason for his reappointment.”
But today, the demonstrating workers refused entry to the newly appointed NIPOST CEO, remarking that her appointment was against their desire.
