Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot outdoors, in the streets, while he was doing his clothing business on 31 March 2019, in South Los Angeles. He was 33 years when he passed away. The court case of Eric Holder, the man charged with the murder of the late rapper is scheduled to commence this week. Mr. Holder has been charged with murder and two counts of attempted homicide but he has claimed not guilty.
After Nipsey’s death, accolades began streaming in for him across the music industry Big celebrities such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, Drake, Chance The Rapper, John Legend and Big Sean were among the artists that talked about the life he led. The lawsuit of Eric Holder, the alleged murderer of the music icon is expected to last for about four weeks. A lot of accolades streamed in for Nipsey Hussle, at the 2019 BET Awards. He was awarded posthumously, the Best Male Hip Hop Artist and Humanitarian Awards. John Legend and DJ Khaled also gave a musical tribute to the late singer during the music award ceremony, that honored black culture in America.
At a general memorial celebrating Hussles’s life, about 20 thousand people were in attendance, and the former US President, Barack Obama praised him for leaving a heritage worthy of commemoration. It took Nipsey 10 years to release his first album Victory Lap which was nominated for a Grammy after he declined major-label cash to build his empire from the bottom. The late rapper then went on to market a thousand copies of his 2013 Crenshaw mixtape for 100 dollars. He even convinced Jay-Z, another influential rapper in his own right, to buy 100 copies (Jay Z was the one that give Nipsey the income needed to go after his music.
