The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC had on Saturday, May 13 announced that it was looking forward to holding a meeting with the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, over matters regarding the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit, aka petrol.
However, the NLC has insisted that regardless of holding the meeting with Tinubu, its position on fuel subsidy had not changed, stressing that the government must ensure to get Nigeria’s refineries functional before taking out petrol subsidy.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has also reaffirmed the labor union’s position, explaining that while it was important to halt the subsidy regime, the government should at the same time put hands on deck to fix Nigeria’s refineries in Kaduna, Port Harcourt, and Warri.
