The Nigerian National Petroleum Company –NNPC Limited has repudiated reports that it plans to hike the price of petrol to N1,200 per litre.
Earlier today, reports emerged that the NNPC will announce a new hike in the price of fuel across the nation.
The NNPC had reacted to the report which quickly generated mixed reactions. They had also said that there were no plans to increase the price of fuel.
The statement which was signed by the NNPC, Group Communications, Officer, Olufemi Soneye had read:
“NNPC Ltd emphasises it has not contended with any party. The Punch headline is deemed regrettable.”
“The publication merely sought confirmation on the reported subsidy reduction, to which NNPC Ltd responded that the subsidy has been completely removed.”
