Olarenwaju Daramola, the founder of the Daramola Dynasty Foundation, has emphasized that individuals with disabilities should have the opportunity to display their unique talents and skills, as disabilities should not be a barrier to achieving dreams.

This statement was made public on Sunday after the annual Sports Day of the Federal Nigeria Society of the Blind in Lagos, Nigeria. She said, “Every human being should be allowed to hone their talents and skills and become anything they want to be, any form of disability should not impede achieving your dreams.”

The foundation views it as an honor to collaborate with the 70-year-old humanitarian organization, FNSB, for this year’s sports day due to their commitment to rehabilitating and empowering individuals with visual impairments. The event, which drew over 500 attendees including members of the FNSB Lagos branch, was supported by the foundation along with partners like Bluebulb Financials, Buyletlive, and Dealmakers.

A spokesperson for Bluebulb Financials Limited, a fintech firm offering smooth cross-border payment services, stated that the company is proud to collaborate with FNSB to support its members. “We are proud to support the Federal Nigeria Society of the Blind and their mission to empower people with visual impairments. Events like this Sports Day showcase the incredible potential of people with visual impairments, and we are honored to be a part of it”.

The event included a variety of activities such as long jump, tug of war, march past, and Goal Ball, a sport specifically designed for individuals with visual impairments. A highlight of the event was the free eye tests and medical check-ups provided to attendees. A spokesperson for DealMakers BDC noted that this impactful program was introduced by the headline sponsor. “Some people have undiagnosed correctable eye defects, so when FNSB suggested including free eye tests in the event, we fully supported it.”

This initiative is part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to support eye care projects from Ogun State to Lagos State, aligning with their commitment to SDG 3, Good Health.
