Nottingham Forest climbed into the Premier League top five with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford, their first away win against the Red Devils since December 1994. The defeat leaves Ruben Amorim’s side reeling with back-to-back losses.

United’s set-piece vulnerabilities were laid bare as Nikola Milenković headed Forest in front inside two minutes, converting Elliot Anderson’s pinpoint delivery. It was the seventh goal United have let in from corners this season – a joint-league high. United levelled matters through Rasmus Højlund, tapping in the rebound from Alejandro Garnacho’s saved effort to make it 1-1 after 18 minutes.

However, Forest regrouped after the break to take advantage of United’s frailties at the back. Morgan Gibbs-White’s swerving shot wrongfooted André Onana for Forest’s second, with Chris Wood’s looping header, poorly dealt with by United’s defense, sealing the visitors’ third. It also made Wood Forest’s all-time leading Premier League scorer.

One was Bruno Fernandes’ wonderful strike that gave United hope, but Forest’s resistance held out with a disciplined display at the back. First league wins this season at Anfield and now Old Trafford. United’s seven-game home unbeaten run is over and they slip to the bottom half of the table.
