The Nigeria Police Command has announced that it plans to demolish 25 barracks in several parts of Lagos State, citing that those structures had failed the structural integrity test conducted by the Lagos State Government earlier on.
As a result, more than 2,000 policemen and members of their families have been informed to evacuate the dilapidated barracks.
Some of the affected Barracks include Ijeh Police Barracks in Obalende, Highway Police Barracks in Ikeja; Bar Beach Police Barracks in Victoria; MOPOL 2 Police Barracks in Keffi Street, South-West, Ikoyi; Mounted Troop, Ribadu Road in Ikoyi and Queen Barracks in Apapa to name a few.
Meanwhile, the Force Public Relations Officer, FPPRO, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has explained the procedure for the erection of the proposed demolished barracks.
According to Adejobi, he had issued a directive for those currently living in those Barracks to be given a one-month notice to vacate their accommodation spaces.
