Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan on Wednesday won a third straight game to leapfrog into sixth on the table when they thrashed Heartland of Owerri by four goals to nil at the Lekan Salami Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, the Edith Agoye tutored team turned on the style to score through Kola Daniel (53′), Malomo Ayodeji (78′), Ayo Adejubu (86′) and Rahim Nafiyu (90’+3) to ease the pressure from Coach Agoye who had been given a three-game perform-or-go marching orders by the state government.
In Kaduna, visiting Remo Stars held Kano Pillars to a 0-0 draw to maintain their unbeaten start to the season even though the Gbenga Ogunbote coached team is winless in their last three games which has allowed erstwhile joint-leaders, Rivers United, to move into the top position with their 2-1 win over Dakkada FC courtesy of Ishaq Rafiu’s double either side of Emmanuel Ayaosi’s strike for the visitors.
Abia Warriors were also big winners with their 3-0 win over Wikki Tourists at the Okigwe Stadium with Odoh Valentine’s brace and a third by Godwin Obaje to end the game with a flourish.
Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu led Plateau United to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu to record a shock 1-0 win over Rangers with Ibrahim Buhari’s 5th minute goal and the Jos Miners are now up to third on the log.
In Lafia, Enyimba succumbed to a late goal to go down 2-1 after Victor Mbaoma had opened scores in the 13th minute before Tolu Oluwole drew the homers level but Shammasu Mohammed ensured all three points with the winning goal deep into time added-on.
Matchday 11 round of games will be played on Sunday, February 6 nationwide.
