The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC has advised its Corp members to be dutiful, obedient, and security-conscious for the period of their service year. The Chairman of the NYSC National Governing Board, Fatima Bala Abubakar reported on the occasion of her visit to NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Old Macgregor College, Afikpo, Ebonyi State.
Addressing Corps members and Staff of the Scheme after supervising the facilities on ground at the Camp, Abubakar asked the Corps members to strive towards hard work, becoming self-reliant as there were non-existent white-collar jobs in the country.
She said that she came to look at the condition of the Camp and that the state administrator had mentioned a list of challenges. “We will forward this information to the State Government and I will do a follow-up. I know something will be done about the challenges”
“I hope you are conscious of security. It is pleasing to us that you are well behaved. Going out of the camp will be a problem for you” she further added.
The NYSC chairman had listed some of the challenges NYSC schemes were facing to include: 1. No functional NYSC State Governing Board, and
2. No functional NYSC Local Government Committees in the state;
3. Stoppage of works on the renovation of Camp Infrastructures.
Also, the Non-completion of the renovation is greatly hampering our activities, especially the Parade Ground, the Lecture Hall, and the camp officials’ hostels.
