Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has criticised the trips made by President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, saying they show a lack of financial responsibility and good judgement.
Obi pointed out that since the President is already in Paris, France, he could have gone to a meeting in Sweden instead of sending the Vice President, who had to travel a much longer way from Nigeria.
“Sending the Vice President, who had to fly 3055 nautical miles and spend over nine hours to get to Stockholm, Sweden, to stand in for the President at the event is a waste of money,” Obi said.
The former governor of Anambra State added that this decision does not show the kind of financial responsibility and good sense that people expect from leaders when their citizens are struggling with hunger and poverty.
“It would take about four times longer and farther to travel from Abuja to Stockholm than from Paris to Stockholm,” Obi noted.
