The Ogun State Police Command has arrested James Solomon, a 20-year-old farmworker, for allegedly murdering his colleague, simply known as Benson, on a farm in Ideko Shogaolu Village.
This was revealed in a statement released to PUNCH Online on Sunday by Omolola Odutola, the command spokesperson.
According to the statement, at around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2025, Solomon called his neighbour Bartholomew and reported that Benson had been killed.
The command stated that when neighbours arrived at the scene, Solomon had fled, and Benson’s body was nowhere to be found, raising suspicions among the locals.
According to Odutola, Solomon was taken into custody by Aaron Emmanuel and other locals at approximately five in the morning, miles from Solo Village, and turned over to the police.
During questioning, the command reported that Solomon had revealed the site of Benson’s body, which led investigators to a shallow grave where the bones were interred.
Odutola stated, “A police team visited the scene, exhumed the corpse, and took photographs as part of their investigation.
“A physical examination of the body revealed multiple deep cuts on the head and body, suggesting a violent attack.
“The remains have since been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu for further examination.
“Meanwhile, Solomon remains in police custody and is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.”
