Almost nine months after being assaulted by suspected terrorists, the St. Francis’ Catholic Church, Owo in Owo Local Government Area, will reopen for parishioners on Easter Sunday.
In the incident on June 5, 2022, 41 church members were killed and 69 others were injured.
Nobody has been arrested in connection with the heinous crime since then.
In memory of the victims, the state government has begun building o memorial park in Owo. The park, according to state Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, would be completed by May of this year.
The Catholic Bishop of Ondo Diocese, Jude Arogundade, spoke about the church’s reopening at this year’s Chrism Mass as part of Easter celebrations.
The church had been locked since the attack on worshippers, according to the cleric, and will reopen on Sunday.
