Super Eagles Striker, Victor Osimhen, who’s plying his trade for Italian clubside Napoli will learn his fate today after he was sent off in Napoli’s match against Venezia on Sunday.
The 22-year-old Nigerian international was given the marching order in the 23rd minutes for shoving Venezia’s Daan Heymans as Napoli played a corner into the box.
It’s not an ideal start for the attacker, who’s now set to miss some key games for The Blues. Football rules says that a straight red card involving a violent conduct is punishable with three-match suspension.
Osimhen might just miss the match against Genoa this weekend if the referee Gianluca Aureliano fails to include violent conduct in his report.
But should the report state that violent conduct is the reason for his dismissal, Osimhen will not only miss this weekend’s encounter but, most importantly, the huge clash against Juventus after the international break.
Napoli made a statement through Calcio Napoli 24 that they hope their big money signing will only miss one game, provided Aureliano does not include violent conduct as a reason for the red card in his report.
The former Lille man now awaits his fate that lies with the referee and he’s hoping to miss just one match as he is already set to miss five games between January and February due to Nigeria’s involvement in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
