The lawsuit of the husband of the late gospel singer will begin today, 16 June 2020. The accused, Peter Nwachukwu is expected to appear in FCT High Court Wuse 2, Abuja.

The trial judge Justice N.K. Nwosu-Iheme has already set up the 16 and 17 of June for the sped-up hearing. Today’s trial will begin by noon while Friday’s hearing would start by 9 am Nigerian time. Police officials have since arrested Mr. Nwachukwu on 23 counts of charges bordering on domestic violence and murder.

The Late singer’s husband has pleaded not guilty to culpable murder in his late wife’s death. Nonetheless, the judge has ordered for him to be remanded at the prison in Kuje until the lawsuit would commence

Osinachi Nwachukwu, the popular musician’s death sparked outrage in April after her family accused her husband of beating her to death. This was among the reason police officials swooped in to arrest the husband and detain him, pending trial. Meanwhile, the late singer’s burial would be held later this month.

The accused, Peter, was a pastor at Dunamis International Gospel Church where his late wife was one of the lead singers before her untimely death. Before her demise, Osinachi was a singer, and songwriter who became very famous for her hit song “Ekwueme” which she collaborated with another singer Prosper Ochimana.

The hit song has seen more than 70 million views on YouTube.
