The Osun State Government has ordered public and private schools to start reciting “Nigeria, We Hail Thee,” the reintroduced former national anthem recently approved by President Bola Tinubu. This directive was included in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Murtala Jimoh, and released in Osogbo on Friday. On Wednesday, President Tinubu signed a bill into law that reinstates the old national anthem. In the state government’s release, Jimoh instructed all schools to begin reciting the reinstated national anthem during their morning assemblies.
In the release, the Permanent Secretary urged all heads of both private and public schools to ensure their students learn and start singing the national anthem immediately.
The statement read, “The Federal Government recently approved a new National Anthem for the country, it is therefore pertinent for schools across Osun State to comply with this directive.
“As a result, all heads of schools in both public and private schools should ensure compliance in their various schools.
“It is expected that it is the new Anthem that should be rendered during their various morning assemblies and this should be done as a matter of duty.”
