After completing specialised training in contemporary mining practices, no fewer than 150 teenagers and women working in mining within the Osun West Senatorial District were granted a grant of N7.5 million.

The Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Dr. Lere Oyewumi, led the training program, which was run by the Mining Cadastre Office in Abuja and took place in Ikire, Osun State.

Oyewumi, speaking on behalf of PDP Senatorial Leader for Osun West, Mr. Adesoye Oyetunde, gave cash and certificates to the recipients during the training’s grand conclusion on Saturday. He clarified that the goal of the grant was to help the participants’ businesses.

Oyewumi noted that the program aimed to improve the participants’ skills, encouraging them to use the knowledge they obtained and the financial assistance they received to their work.

“We are empowering 150 members working in mining, quarrying, and building construction. We have trained them to be better equipped and knowledgeable about their jobs.

“Following the course, we will provide each participant with N50,000 to strengthen their job. The beneficiaries come from all ten local governments in the Osun West Senatorial District.

“I encourage the beneficiaries to make the most of this opportunity and the monies granted to assist build their enterprises.

“We are aware of the current economic challenges in the country, which is why the money given to the beneficiaries must be used wisely,” she stated.
