This is in the wake of a report that went viral with protests which claimed that some unidentified police officers in Kubwa, Abuja, shot a young 21-year-old man for refusing to pay the bribe sum of N200,000. This was revealed by VeryDarkMan, who posted the video of the young man, shot and injured on a hospital bed.

VeryDarkMan posted that the young man was asked by the police for N200,000, he could not pay, so they shot him. He said that the young man was still in the hospital, going through serious treatments. The act has raised serious concern about law enforcement that is meant to protect citizens but is fast being perceived as threats.

VeryDarkMan frustratedly asked in the video why Nigerians should be afraid of both criminals and those sworn to serve and protect them. His post immediately went viral and has since sparked public outrage with calls for justice. Many are calling for an immediate investigation into the act to bring responsible officers to book.

VeryDarkMan has called on both the Force Police Public Relations Officer and the FCT Police Public Relations Officer to open an investigation, in order to bring justice to the young victim and to put a halt to the spiraling cases of police misconduct within Nigeria.
