The Catholic Diocese of Ondo has set a mass burial for the victims of St Francis Catholic Church, who had lost their lives in the terror attacks on Pentecost Sunday.
The church set the burial for about forty persons who had died at the church attack to him on Friday, the 17th of June, 2022. This was confirmed by Rev. Fr. Augustine Ikwu, the Diocese’s Director of Social Communication. He said that the mass burial would be held at the church’s new cemetery at Emure Road, Owo.
Some of the other victims are still receiving treatment in government and private hospitals across Owo, Ondo state. The police force has also claimed to have no arrest in connection with the owo attacks however it was said that the attacks were linked to the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP)
The South West Governors comprising Lagos, Oyo, Ekiti, Osun, Ondo, and Ogun State have declared three days mourning period starting from Monday where the flag would fly at half Mast in all public buildings.
