Hon. Isaac Omodewu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Oyo State, has died at the age of 61. The news of his passing, which occurred in the United States on Sunday, August 16th, 2024, has sent shock through the political landscape.

While the details surrounding Omodewu’s death remain unclear, it’s no secret that rumors about his declining health have been circulating within the party for some time. Those rumors appear to have been more than just whispers, as it has now been confirmed that he was critically ill and had been receiving treatment in a U.S. hospital since late last year.

The news of his death was confirmed by Wale Sadare, the APC Public Secretary in Oyo State, during a phone interview with Channels Television on Monday. Sadare revealed that despite the medical efforts to save him, Omodewu ultimately succumbed to his illness in the early hours of Sunday.

For months, party insiders had speculated about Omodewu’s condition, but the nature of his ailment has been kept under wraps. Now, with his passing, the questions surrounding his health are likely to linger, leaving many wondering about the circumstances that led to his untimely demise.

As the news of his death emerges, the APC in Oyo State is left to struggle with the loss of a key figure. Hon. Isaac Omodewu’s death not only marks the end of his political journey but also raises concerns about the leadership vacuum that might ensue in the party’s ranks.

The family, understandably in mourning, has yet to announce burial plans. Meanwhile, the political community in Oyo State and beyond is left to reflect on the life and contributions of a man who, despite his recent struggles, remained at the leadership of the party until the very end.

The death of Hon. Isaac Omodewu is a reminder of the fragile nature of life, even for those in the highest positions of power. As the APC in Oyo State looks to the future, they must now face the challenge of moving forward without the leadership of a man who had become synonymous with the party in the state.
