The Oyo State Government has begun making compensation payments to owners of properties affected by recent acquisitions for developmental projects in Ajia-Inukan Local Council Development Area of Ona Ara Local Government.
A statement made available by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince ‘Dotun Oyelade, on August 20, 2024, revealed that it was during a meeting with the claimants that the Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, disclosed this information.
As compensation for the affected properties, valued after an identification and verification exercise, the government has set aside an amount of N513,462,446.50.
Akin-Funmilayo stressed that such compensation reveals the government’s intent to maintain a good relationship with the populace.
Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration acquired land for projects such as Air Force Base, General Hospital, and ICT center in Ajia, located within Ona Ara Local Government Area.
Claimant Mr. Adedokun Olalekan thanked Governor Makinde for his kind-heartedness towards Oyo State people.
