Nigerian pastor Tobi Adegboyega has lost his fight to remain in the UK after his church, Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church Nation Ministries, was accused of mishandling £1.87 million (N4bn). Despite claims that deportation would violate his human rights, UK authorities ruled against him, citing his illegal stay since 2005.
A cousin of the actor John Boyega said that his community projects and marriage to a British citizen should secure his stay; however, the tribunal dismissed all claims, noting there were unresolved concerns about the church’s finances and activities.
Thus, this judgment brings down the curtain on the colourful but controversial stay in the UK of Adegboyega, whose work in the same capacity has seen accusations of fraud and abuse of power cloud over his ministrations.
