The Peoples Democratic Party -PDP, had on Saturday, October 8, described invalid the nomination of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the All Progressives Congress -APC, presidential candidate as an invalid move.
The party revealed this through a statement that was issued by their National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.
According to the PDP, the September 30 ruling of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had declared as illegal all the actions done by Mai Mala Buni, who is the APC Caretaker and the Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee led by Yobe State Governor.
The Federal High court had also nullified the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola’s candidacy, who had won the APC governorship primary conducted by the caretaker committee in January.
Justice Emeka Nwite, who announced the verdict, held that the 1999 Constitution forbade the governor or any other political office holders from holding any other position during their term in office.
However, Adamu was in charge when Tinubu defeated 13 other aspirants to secure the APC presidential ticket on June 8 and become their flagbearer in the upcoming elections.
In the statement, PDP reported that Buni contravened Section 183 of the constitution by serving as a governor and the acting chairman for the APC at the same time.
