The internal struggle for power within the PDP has taken another drastic turn as the Peoples Democratic Party suspends the Board of Trustees, BoT, chairman of the party, Chief Adolphus Wabara.
According to reports, Wabara was suspended by the system working Committee, SWC, of the party in Abia State, during a meeting presided over by the State Chairman, Abraham Amah.
Reasons for Suspension Remain Unclear
The reason for his suspension has not been made public but one can assume that this move is a continuation of the power play between FCT Minister Nyesome Wike and former vice president Atiku Abubakar. The lack of transparency on the reason for the suspension fuels suspicion and contributes to the perception of internal disarray within the PDP.
The state chairman, Abraham Amah also confirmed the suspension, stating that he would make the details of the suspend available shortly.
Following Wabara’s suspension, Wike’s ally and former governor, Okezie Ikpeazu now has firm control of the Abia PDP.
Conclusion
The suspension of Chief Adolphus Wabara is clearly another significant blow to the already fractured internal structure of the PDP. The lack of transparency surrounding the decision, coupled with the ongoing power struggle between prominent figures like Wike and Abubakar, paints a picture of a party deeply divided and struggling to maintain unity.
The upcoming release of details surrounding the suspension will be crucial in understanding the full extent of the internal conflict and its potential consequences for the party’s future.
