Nigerians have been raving on social media over the death of Bolanle Raheem, who was killed by a certain ASP on Christmas day.
Raheem was returning from a Christmas outing with her kids and her sister on Christmas day at 11 am, when an assistant superintendent of police tried to stop her vehicle, on making a u-turn, the policeman shot the vehicle, unfortunately, the bullet hit her, she was pronounced dead in the hospital.
Bolanle Olakanni, a media personality has condemned the choice of words used in the statement that was released by Lagos State Police Command.
According to her, it is inappropriate to use the word ‘unfortunate’ to describe an incident of such a nature.
Reminiscing, on her last memories of Raheem she described her as a very sweet person, hardworking and positive. It’s so sad that the Nigerian police force wasted the life of such a sweet person.
According to her “An unfortunate incident is a flat tyre, an unfortunate incident is water flooding my house.”
“A mother and wife was killed and you use the words “unfortunate”. I pray no one ever describes your family with those words. Nonsense,” she wrote in the tweet shared on Monday.
Bolanle Raheem was my real estate agent,” Olukanni tweeted.
“She supported me in my goal and was always cheering me on. She was so hardworking, positive, and had such a cheerful spirit. She has a husband and child. I can’t even say more. The Nigerian police are killers.”
It is not debatable again, The Nigerian police force needs reform, this is an embarrassment of the highest order to the entire police force, a human being was killed for absolutely no reason.
