Peter Obi, a presidential contestant in the last elections, has said that the current economic difficulties in Nigeria call for collective responsibility between our leaders so as not only include within it all citizens’ wellbeing. Obi made this plea via a post he shared on one of the prominent sites he is affiliated to.
He noted that since 1999 up to 2015 there has been a significant drop in GDP from 6.72% under one administration down to 2.79%.
Obi stressed the importance of leaders giving priority to the service of their communities to make them better hence create good environment for all while pledging that they would not be arbitrary but rather they would work towards policies that would lead to growth in economy and reduce suffering. He dreamt of a “New Nigeria” founded on superior economic policies and patriotic ideas, which can only be accomplished peacefully and in a secure way.
