Everyone is aware that 2023 general election produced lots of political rivalries, the umbrella party fell through after her primaries and bitterness was the order of the day.  However, Peter Obi  the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, recently paid private visits to two political heavyweights, Atiku Abubakar and Sule Lamido, at their Abuja residences. The nature of these meetings has sparked intense speculation, raising questions about Obi’s true intentions and the potential implications for the political landscape. It’s okay to say the political giants has different leadership goal and legacy. What then was the essence of the visit? PDP tactics is yet to be uncovered.

Was Obi seeking to build bridges with key players in the political establishment, potentially paving the way for future alliances or endorsements? Or was he attempting to capitalize on Atiku’s vast political network and experience, exploring options for a political realignment? The truth remains shrouded in secrecy, fueling controversy and debate.

Atiku, the former Vice President, broke the news on social media, expressing his delight at receiving Obi. Their cordial relationship dates back to the 2019 presidential election when Obi served as Atiku’s running mate. However, the details of their recent discussion remain unclear, leaving many to wonder: What were they discussing behind closed doors?

Obi’s visit to Lamido, a former Jigawa State governor, has also raised eyebrows. Lamido’s influence in northern politics and his past disagreements with Atiku make this meeting particularly intriguing. Was Obi seeking to exploit the rift between Atiku and Lamido, potentially creating a new political axis? Or was he genuinely seeking counsel from a seasoned politician?

Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, has added fuel to the fire by revealing that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, played a significant role in Obi’s exit from the PDP. Ibe claimed Atiku was willing to zone the PDP presidential ticket to the Southeast, but Wike’s actions frustrated this effort. This bombshell raises questions about Wike’s true motives and his influence on Obi’s political trajectory.

As the political drama unfolds, many are left wondering: What lies ahead for Obi and his Labour Party? Will these meetings lead to a political realignment or a significant shift in the political landscape? How will Obi’s supporters react to these developments? And what role will Atiku and Lamido play in the upcoming political landscape?

The truth remains unclear, but one thing is certain – Peter Obi’s private visits have ignited a firestorm of speculation, controversy, and intrigue. As the political landscape continues to evolve, one question looms large: What’s next for Peter Obi and the political establishment? Only time will tell.

Some questions to ponder:

  • What was the true purpose behind Peter Obi’s visit to Atiku Abubakar?
  • – Was he seeking political guidance, or was he desperate for a political lifeline?
  • How will this meeting impact the political landscape, and what are the implications for the Labour Party?
