The Plateau State Police Command has arrested eight suspects in connection with the killings of more than 200 people on Christmas Eve in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas of the state.
Gunmen alleged to be herdsmen had attacked 12 communities in the council areas on Christmas eve and simultaneously killed people at random, leaving a lot of survivors with injuries, and several houses and properties burnt.
The spokesman for the state police command, Alfred Alabo, who announces the arrest to the Nigerian Tribune, had said the eight suspects were apprehended after a tip-off by members of the affected communities.
The eight suspects are at the State Criminal Investigation Department -SCID undergoing interrogation.
The police spokesperson statement:
“Some persons have been nabbed and they are presently in custody undergoing interrogation.“As of the last count, they totalled eight in number. But at the moment, the affected communities and villages are somewhat calm and our men are present to make sure that the peace that has been restored is preserved.”
